CARBAT leaders taking part in the Gordon Research Conference on Batteries in Ventura (USA)

Prof. Patrik Johansson and Prof. Mª Rosa Palacín, two of CARBAT leaders, were invited as speakers at the Gordon Research Conference on Batteries, held at the Four Points Sheraton/Holiday Inn Express in Ventura (USA) from February 25th to March 2nd 2018.

The specific focus of the conference was on the big challenges and opportunities the battery community is facing in identifying the pathways towards the Battery of Tomorrow. To this end, leading scientists with various backgrounds, from theory to battery safety, were gathered for discussions and brainstorming on how to improve existing battery concepts. The program included presentations about beyond Li-ion technologies, multi-scale modelling perspectives, characterization and battery diagnostics, industrial insights, reliability and safety, new concepts and new battery materials, microstructural design.

Prof. Palacín from ICMAB talked about "The Long and Winding Road Towards Ca-Based Batteries" and Prof. Johansson, from Chalmers University of Technology, presented on "Pure, Hybrid and Polymerized Ionic Liquid Based Electrolytes".
